This LMS Class 8F No. 8042 came in as a non runner, and the reason became clear straight away — the valve gear had been completely bent, stopping the wheelset from turning at all.
The full wheelset was removed, straightened, aligned, and rebuilt, followed by a complete service.
It’s now running smoothly again and ready for layout duty.
A lovely weathered example and great to bring back to life.
