Claude Debussy was just 28 when "Rêverie" was published, marking one of his first piano works to leave a significant impact on the music world and quickly becoming a staple in the piano repertoire. This piece showcases Debussy’s exceptional mastery of piano composition, distinguished by its sensitivity and refinement. He achieves coherence throughout the work by constructing much of the musical fabric from a single perfect fourth interval. In this video, I delve into the musical logic underlying Debussy’s composition, highlighting how his music exemplifies elegance in both sonority and structure.
