This is a brief review of the fantastic 'Malcolm X: A Life of Reinvention' by Manning Marable, which aims to uncover the 'real' Malcolm X. It challenges some of the points set out in the Autobiography of Malcolm X and discusses the legacy of Malcolm X since his death.
I would strongly recommend this book to students of US Civil Rights and African American History as well as anyone who is interested in Malcolm X and the Civil Rights movement more generally.
