This is world’s lightest safety seat, the Avionaut Pixel.
But what makes it so lightweight?
Ultra light seat base made of polypropylene foam.

The structure of the fabric is very compact, which not only results in lightness but also in incredible strength.

Knauf production plant has been based In Adamowice, there we make the safety seat base of Avionaut Pixel seat, called “the shell”. The main component used for producing the shell are EPP granules introduced directly into moulding machine.
Polypropylene foam called EPP is being used by Knauf Industries for years already, especially for producing safety related car parts.

Karwala company near Częstochowa is the place where Avionaut Pixel safety seats are made. This is where the idea started and where the innovative project of Pixel safety seat was implemented.
EPP was the best solution as this material is both strong and safe and it also reduces the weight of the seat considerably.
Plastic inserts immersed into EPP shell are very important elements of Avionaut Pixel. They make the heart of the seat as the EPP shell itself would not transfer such heavy loads that are required in children’s safety seat tests. Therefore we found it was essential to ensure that the inserts and the shell made one cohesive whole.

It took over 2 years to implement the solution. That period covered numerous test and modifications.
Not only did EPP pass the safety test.

The new Pixel is also 40% lighter than other safety seats.
