FRANCE STUDENT PROTEST EXPLODES: Thousands March Against Macron Government Over Education Crisis

Описание: NANTES, France — French riot police fired tear gas and arrested over 20 demonstrators in Nantes during a major student and teacher-led mobilization demanding increased public education funding, improved facilities, and systemic reforms to the country's Parcoursup university admissions platform. Dubbed 'Acte V', the rally marked the fifth wave of nationwide protests against acute teacher shortages, overcrowded classrooms, and deteriorating school infrastructure. Demonstrators rallied from central Nantes through major thoroughfares before facing law enforcement near Nantes University Hospital, with interior ministry figures putting nationwide turnout at over 161,500 people. Protesters criticized the government's heavy-handed policing tactics and dismissed emergency pledges of substitute teachers as insufficient, vowing to sustain school blockades and street rallies.
