In this video, we revisit our delidded AMD Ryzen CPU -- or APU, technically -- with the R3 2200G and a custom copper IHS. The process involves a delidded Ryzen APU, replacing the TIM with liquid metal (Conductonaut), and resealing with a copper IHS from Rockit Cool. We test the copper IHS vs. the nickel-plated copper IHS that AMD uses, but also test the difference of silicone adhesive vs. no sealant, showing that the 'air gap' in Ryzen and Intel CPUs accounts for just as much of the thermal uplift as the TIM replacement.

This would also work on an AMD R5 2400G APU or other AM4 CPUs, though the full desktop Ryzen CPUs are soldered, and do not require delidding for improved performance. You're best off using one of the APUs that has stock thermal paste instead, as those have more thermal headroom for improvement in benchmarks and overclocking.
