6/8/10/12 tuned up to Exit Stage Left, or at least in the ballpark. Snare too. Neil’s drum sound on that record is one of my all-time faves! He is so spot on in his tuning and performance on ESL!
So here’s a little tip of the hat to some of his amazing single stroke “floating” snare work, and some concert tom groovin’. I didn’t play the whole kit bc they way they are set up in the room, it’s hard to get a good angle of it all and have it balanced sounding. The father away, the more verb and less detail etc…
Also, the Tom mounts on the 6 and 8 aren’t locking in and keep slipping .. (u can see the 6 slipping at the end .. ugh..)
if u get lucky u can find a spot where it locks but … I’ve replaced one and tried to fix others, and also did this years ago. It’s a design flaw or something, so it gets annoying and hard to focus on playing …
