The Rhino Protection Programme

Описание: With South Africa being home to 83% of Africa’s wild rhino, Peace Parks Foundation has been working closely with the South African government and its conservation management authorities, South African National Parks (SANParks) and Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife (Ezemvelo), to initiate detailed projects as part of the multifaceted Rhino Protection Programme.

The 5-year Rhino Protection Programme focuses on developing and implementing practical, well-considered methods through which to address issues at various critical points along the so-called “poaching supply chain” – namely to counter and ultimately stop the killing by enhancing protected area support on the ground; stop the trade through harmonisation of policies, legislation and counter-trafficking activities; and stop the demand through awareness and behavioural change campaigns.

The Rhino Protection Programme is supported the Dutch Postcode Lottery, the Swedish Postcode Lottery, and other foundations and private donors, including Fondation Hoffmann, Mr Neville and Mrs Pamela Isdell, Reinet Foundation, Mrs Irene M. Staehelin, The Charge, The Sophia Foundation, The Van Zyl Family and the Lindbergh Foundation.
