Описание: Big Couloir - The infamous triple black diamond run at Big Sky, MT is no joke.

Starting off from the peak of the 11,260 ft Lone Peak Mountain, this couloir reaches upwards of 50 degrees in steepness, with 1,400 ft total vertical drop.

In order to ski/ride this couloir, you have to get to the chairs early and line up at the Lone Peak Tram to sign off with patrol. Slots are limited per day to the first 20-ish advanced to expert skiers/riders. You must come with a partner and ski in pairs down the couloir. Avalanche safety equipments (beacon, probe and shovel) are also required.

Once at the top of the tram, there is a warming hut for you to stay warm, gear up and wait for your turn. I got so excited and nervous at the same time here! It never felt so real until this moment that I'm actually gonna go down the infamous Big Couloir.

There is a bit of a traverse to skier's right when you come out of the hut, then you'll see the entrance of the couloir. The very top part is the steepest - scary, exposed rocks, narrow. I could barely stay on my feet here. Good thing is the snow was good and we got an amazing blue bird day.

Halfway through the steepness decreases to 35-40 degrees and the couloir starts to open up. Once you exit the last 400-500 ft was all untouched fluffy goodies down a comfortable 25-30 degree open face.

This is my first triple black diamond/couloir run and it was perfect! Big Sky has so much to offer and I can't wait to come back for more!
