The Locomotive Showcase Trailer offers an in-depth glimpse into the steam engines of Railroads Online. More than 20 authentic locomotives are available for transporting different goods. These locomotives hail from the golden era of steam engines in the United States, spanning from the 1870s — when steam power was rapidly transforming transportation — through to the height of steam locomotive innovation in the early 1900s.

Among the collection are legendary models like the Montezuma, renowned Baldwin steam engines, the powerful Lima 2-8-0, and the iconic "Betsy" from H.K. Porter & Co. Many of the steam locomotives featured in Railroads Online no longer exist or are only preserved in very rare cases. The development team uses specialist magazines, preserved documents, and surviving models in North American museums to recreate these locomotives as faithfully as possible in the game.

Just in time for the 3rd anniversary of the release of Railroads Online in Early Access on Steam, the Anniversary Update is being released today. It includes one of the most requested features - an in-game chat for even better communication between players. Also included is a completely redesigned user interface. In addition, the new camera perspectives and loading options offer further assistance when loading and unloading goods.

Set in huge open worlds reminiscent of America during the golden age of steam trains, Railroads Online puts you in the role of a pioneer helping to shape the future of America. Build tracks, traverse vast landscapes in various steam locomotives, transport goods to earn money, and customize and buy new locomotives and equipment as you grow to become a railroad tycoon. Play in single-player or with up to 15 friends in the online cooperative multiplayer mode.

Design your dream rail network from the ground up. Scout the best route, lay down embankments, and build tracks, switches, turntables, bridges, and more! Then cross the vast, open landscape in finely detailed locomotives and wagons. Interact with regulators, valves, brakes, couplers, and many more features in first-person view as you drive your vehicles. But you won't simply be driving around aimlessly! Your task is to transport goods like timber, ore, coal, oil, and various other freight for a broad variety of industries. Earn money for every successful shipment and invest in new vehicles or upgrade and customize your existing locomotives. Plus: build stations, yards, and other infrastructure along your routes to service your trains with fuel, water, and sand.

Enjoy a realistic railroad experience with the advanced Unreal Engine physics system for deep railroad simulation. All collisions and forces are rendered dynamically in real time, making the train driving experience much more immersive. So, be careful about derailing your train! And to top it all off, you can play Railroads Online with up to 16 players on a server and enjoy the ultimate train simulation in multiplayer sessions with your friends. Lay tracks together and cooperate to move trains seamlessly or share the work while you play independently. It’s also possible to save and load your progress, so you can enjoy the best tracks or most creative layouts again and again.
