Environmental DNA (eDNA) is a molecular fossil that can provide information about animal and plant species living in the past. A recent study has led to a new theory about early human migrations in North America. It is currently known that the Americas were populated about 15,000 years ago by a migration through an ice-free corridor, but a recent study shows that early humans arrived in the Americas more than 1,000 years before such corridor opened.
