Today we are going to be taking a look at part number C56045. This is the Curt T connector vehicle wiring harness with your 4 pull flat trailer connector. This product is going to fit certain years of the Volvo XC90. It's going to provide your 4 way flat trailer connector at the back of your vehicle to power your trailer signal lights. That is compatible with 5 pull, 6 pull, and 7 pull adapters. Adapters are sold separately. It's going to come with a dust cap, for the 4 way flat connector that way you can cover up the connection points when the plug is not being used. The black box is going to be the included tail light converter, this is going to ensure that your vehicle's wiring matches that of your trailers.
It's designed to connect directly to the vehicle battery through all the wiring, and that's going to help avoid overloading the vehicles electrical system. That is constructed using surface mount technology, so that's going to offer consistent, reliable, performance. One of the main benefits of a system like this is that is designed to connect quickly and easily, you don't have to worry about cutting or splicing any of your wires. Just locate the connection points in the rear cargo area, plug in your T connectors, yellow is going to go to driver's side, green and red are going to go to passenger side. Get those connected, and then make your ground connection. That's going to be the white wire with the ring terminal attached to it.
You can make that ground with the included self tapping screw. Then you'll need to mount the converter box, using the included double-sided adhesive tape. Mount that to a nice, clean, out of the way location. Then you'll need to secure the hot lead. The hot lead is going to be the black wire that's connected to the red wire, which is your fuse holder. It's going to have a ring terminal on the end of it, this is going to get connected to the existing power cable stud.
It's going to come with your 10 amp fuse to go in the fuse holder. It's got the fuse cap on it to keep it protected. Once you have that done, you can use the included zip ties to secure all your excess or slack in the wiring up and out of the way. Keeping it safe and secure. When the installation is complete, the connector is going to be stowed in an out of the way location within your cargo area. When it comes to the maximum amperage for the stop and turn lights we're looking at 3 amps per circuit, and for the taillights we're looking at 6 amps per circuit.
It's also recommended that you use a small amount of dielectric grease on all your electrical connections, like the plugs on the vehicle and the 4 pull connector itself, to help prevent corrosion. That is sold separately, so if you need some, you can find some right here at etrailer.com. A few more things I want to mention, is that right here, on the converter box, it's going to have each individual wire and function, so wherever the wire runs in, go straight over from it and it's going to show you the function of that wire. That's nice to have, nice to see, it's easily visible so that way you can always identify the function of each wire. Again, all the stuff that you need is included. The only thing that is sold separately is that grease, and that's recommended, so if you need some you can find it here on our website. It's also going to come with your detailed installation instructions, those are going to help walk you through the entire process, step by step. That's going to do it for our look at part number C56045.
