Die Chorsammlung Canta Brasil präsentiert brasilianische Volksmusik in einem neuen musikalischen Gewand und macht die vielfältige, mitreißende Folklore dieses Landes für Chöre und Vokalensembles zugänglich.
Iemanjá ist die Göttin des Meeres in der afro-brasilianischen Kultur. Sie gilt als Mutter vieler anderer Orixás (Gottheiten). Das Klavier beginnt solistisch; ad lib. imitieren eine Ocean-Drum und eine Rahmentrommel die Wellen. Während zuerst Iemanjá begrüßt wird, singen die Männerstimmen alleine. Beim zweiten Durchgang übernehmen die Frauenstimmen den an Iemanjá gerichteten Text, beim dritten Durchgang singen alle zusammen das Thema

The choral collection Canta Brasil presents Brazilian folk music in a novel musical garb and makes the highly diverse and exhilarating folk music of this country accessible to choirs and vocal ensembles.
In the Afro-Brazilian culture, Iemanjá ist the goddess of the sea. She is said to be the mother of many other Orixás (deities). The piano begins solistically; the waves are imitated ad lib by an ocean drum and a frame drum. During the initial greeting of Iemanjá, the male voices sing alone. The second time around, the female voices take over the lyrics addressed to Iemanjá, and on the third time, the theme is sung by all voices together.
