Today is considered a disappointing day for US President Donald Trump, as India and the European Union (EU) have reached an agreement on a Free Trade Agreement (FTA). After nearly four years of lengthy negotiations and 18 rounds of meetings, the path is now clear for this major trade agreement. The formal announcement will be made today, January 27th. This agreement is expected to significantly benefit India, particularly in sectors where India exports large quantities of goods to Europe, such as textiles, leather goods and footwear, gold, diamonds and jewelry, chemicals, and marine products. The high import duties currently levied on these goods in Europe will be reduced, making Indian products cheaper and increasing their demand. Commerce Secretary Rajesh Agarwal has confirmed that the deal has been finalized and will be implemented at the beginning of next year after all necessary procedures are completed.

अमेरिकी राष्ट्रपति डोनाल्ड ट्रंप के लिए आज का दिन निराशा भरा माना जा रहा है, क्योंकि भारत और यूरोपियन यूनियन (EU) के बीच फ्री ट्रेड एग्रीमेंट यानी FTA पर सहमति बन गई है। करीब चार साल तक चली लंबी बातचीत और 18 दौर की मीटिंग के बाद अब इस बड़े व्यापार समझौते का रास्ता साफ हो गया है। आज 27 जनवरी को इसका औपचारिक ऐलान किया जाएगा। इस समझौते से भारत को बड़ा फायदा मिलने की उम्मीद है, खासकर उन चीजों में जो भारत बड़ी मात्रा में यूरोप भेजता है, जैसे कपड़ा उद्योग के उत्पाद, चमड़े के सामान और जूते, सोना-हीरा और ज्वेलरी, केमिकल्स और समुद्री उत्पाद। अब इन चीजों पर यूरोप में लगने वाला भारी आयात शुल्क यानी इंपोर्ट ड्यूटी कम हो जाएगी, जिससे भारतीय सामान वहां सस्ता होगा और उसकी मांग बढ़ेगी। कॉमर्स सेक्रेटरी राजेश अग्रवाल ने साफ कहा है कि यह डील फाइनल हो चुकी है और सभी जरूरी प्रक्रियाओं के बाद अगले साल की शुरुआत में इसे लागू कर दिया जाएगा।
