This is a video about direct variation translating statement to equation form. In direct variation one variable is equal to the constant of proportionality (k) multiplied by another variable.
In equation form it is y=kx. In direct variation one variable is directly proportional to the other variable. Meaning when one is increasing the other one is also increasing.
Let’s say for example you have a problem that the salary of one worker is directly proportional to the number of hours spent working.
This means that his salary is higher when he has worked much number of days. But his salary is low when he only works small number of days. This is an example of a direct variation problem.
Direct Variation translating statement to equation form is like converting the English statement into its equivalent mathematical equation.
There is always the constant of proportionality or the constant of variation at the right side of the equation. The k will be multiplied to the other variable since they are direct variation.
