Exterior Line Set Remediation Using Slimduct RD | Boston Multi-Family Case Study

Описание: This project documents the remediation of exposed HVAC line sets on a multi-family brownstone property in Boston, where an initial mini-split installation resulted in weather exposure, inconsistent routing, and poor visual integration with the building façade.

The installation was rebuilt using Inaba Denko Slimduct RD. The system was selected to fully encapsulate the refrigerant line sets, protect them from environmental exposure, and provide a uniform, professional finish suitable for urban retrofit applications.

Slimduct RD is fabricated from rigid steel and finished with a zinc-aluminum-magnesium coating, providing corrosion resistance comparable to stainless steel while maintaining form stability in vertical and exterior runs. The system allowed consistent routing across multiple elevations while meeting both functional and aesthetic requirements of a 20-unit residential building.

This case study highlights the role of engineered line-set management systems in correcting installation deficiencies, extending service life, and improving long-term performance in multi-family HVAC applications.
