Today, I'm sharing steamed bao buns recipe, which is a popular dish in China. I've stuffed them with mushrooms and cheese. They're very soft and fluffy, and also very delicious and light. You should definitely try them.

INGREDIENTS
Flour / Maida - 500 grams
Salt- 1/2 tbs
Sugar- 1/2 tbs
Instant dry yeast - 1 tbs
Warm water - to knead the dough
For Stuffing
Mushrooms-250 grams
Garlic - 8-10 cloves
Onion - 1 (medium sized)
Black pepper powder - 1/2 tbs
Salt- according to taste
METHOD
Add flour, salt, and sugar in a bowl & mix it. Then, add yeast and lukewarm water to knead a soft dough. Cover the dough and let it rest in a warm place for 1 hour.
Meanwhile, let's prepare for the stuffing.
For stuffing, we will chop the garlic very finely and along with it, we will also chop the onion and mushrooms roughly.
Now, heat oil in a pan, add garlic, and fry until golden brown. When the garlic turns golden brown then add onions and fry for 2 minutes. After 2 minutes, add mushrooms and fry until all the water from the mushrooms evaporates. Add crushed pepper and salt, mix well, and turn off the heat and let it cool for a while.
Once the mushroom stuffing cools down, add chopped coriander and cheese to it, mix it and transfer it to a bowl.
The stuffing is ready now let's make the buns
The dough has fermented well. Now take it out from the bowl, cut it into equal portions and make balls out of it. Take a ball, sprinkle some dry flour on it, roll it out while thinning the edges. Now add 2 spoons of prepared stuffing in it and close it tightly. Similarly, prepare all the remaining bao buns and cover them and let them rest for half an hour so that they rise up further.
After half an hour, place them in a preheated steamer and steam for 15 to 20 minutes. After 20 minutes, take them out from the steamer and serve hot with chilli oil or Schezwan chutney.
