After reading an article and learning that the body is initially effective against HIV infection but eventually loses its ability to fight off the virus, Aditya started looking for answers and developed a novel idea to treat HIV. This idea eventually won the prestigious 2014 Manning National Innovation Award and the silver medal at the Canada-Wide Science Fair, and is being further explored in preclinical trials around the world.
Aditya is the only Canadian to win the Canadian Mathieu DaCosta Award for the creative arts for three consecutive years, for his visual art pieces. The award challenges participants to illustrate how specific individuals from Canada's Aboriginal, African and other backgrounds have contributed to the development of Canada.
