"LA Stories: Live at Sam First" is the new album from pianist/composer Josh Nelson for the Sam First Records label. As the title suggests, this album is a collection of music that pays homage to the lesser-told stories of Los Angeles' history.
Internationally acclaimed vocalist Gaby Moreno delivers a poignant debut of Josh’s original song “Tiburcio”, which tells the story of Tiburcio Vasquez, an 1800's California "bandito" and the original inspiration for the Zorro character.
Recorded live at Sam First - February 18 and 19, 2022
Josh Nelson (piano), Walter Smith III (tenor saxophone), Larry Koonse (guitar), Luca Alemanno (bass), Dan Schnelle (drums) and special guest Gaby Moreno (vocals).
