Michael B. Jordan and Delroy Lindo just had one of the most awkward and disrespectful moments caught on camera at the BAFTAs, and the way it was handled is even worse. While presenting, they were hit with racial slurs from a Tourette's campaigner in the audience named John Davidson.
Now, we understand the medical condition, but the impact matters more than the intent. These men were at their place of work, in front of their peers and a global audience, and they were humiliated. The host brushed it off, the BBC didn't edit it out, and the man responsible said he was "mortified" but didn't even give a direct apology to the victims.
We have to talk about the double standard here. If a Black man with Tourette's was shouting slurs at white actors, would he get this same "pass"? It’s time to stop making excuses and start showing respect.
