Since an appreciation of this music is based on careful, deep listening, I thought I would amuse my readers with what DOWN BEAT calls "The Blindfold Test." Here are two musicians, clarinet and piano, playing INDIANA, MY BABY JUST CARES FOR ME, and a slightly truncated I GOT RHYTHM. The two musicians are from the US, and these recordings were made (although never issued) in 1936. Both musicians are documented in jazz discographies.
What are your best surmises? I will reveal the answer in two weeks.
P.S. The first few responses have suggested "Benny and Teddy." Seriously? And it's not a trick question.
