The Toroidal Intersecting Vane Machine (TIVM) is a patented, positive displacement expander offering unmatched performance in low flow steam applications. The TIVM consists of only two moving parts that are self-synchronized eliminating the need for gears or other drive mechanisms. Furthermore, the TIVM is oil-free and does not require an inefficient and costly lubrication system. The low part count and minimal parasitic losses enable the TIVM to reliably, cost effectively, and efficiently generate power across a wide range of flows and pressures.

TIVM Technology:
The TIVM is an oil-free positive displacement expander utilizing rotating rings of vanes whose intersections dynamically create expansion chambers. As such, the TIVM is more akin to a piston-cylinder system, operating on a volume change with an efficiency that is maintained even at low steam flows. The positive displacement nature of the machine allows it to operate at low speeds (1800-3600 rpm) at which condensation and water droplets will not damage components eliminating the necessity for dry/superheated steam which is a requirement of turbine devices.
