Crane Train: TVRM's ex. Southern Railway 150 Ton Wreck Crane

Описание: On August 30, 2021, the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum pulled out their rarely used ex. Southern Railway wrecking crane No. 903008 for a maintenance of way project. Polk Street Siding on the East Chattanooga Belt Railway was due to be lengthened, and to do this, the crane was called in to move the east switch by approximately 160 feet. This crane was built in 1917 by the Bucyrus Company. Originally steam powered, it was converted to diesel in 1971. In 1984, it received a new-to-it boom that came off of the original Norfolk Southern Railway crane that was at that time based in Raleigh, North Carolina. The 903008 was primarily based in Charlotte, NC. The crane was donated to the Tennessee Valley Railroad in the 1990's. It's boom is capable of lifting up to 150 tons on the main hoist, and 40 tons on the auxiliary hoist.
