The Counsel Training is a set of four trainings programme focusing on practitioners of international arbitration, which is delivered by a faculty of leading experts headed by (Prof. Mohamed Abdelwahab, Prof. Naglaa Nassar and Prof. Emilia Onyema), in collaboration with four arbitral centres across the African continent.

The training sessions involve practical exercises based on a case study, designed to enhance the skills and capacity of participants to address issues that arise in complex international arbitral proceedings. It covers strategy and ethics, drafting, advocacy, hearing preparations, cross-examination and the workings of the arbitral tribunal.

Participants will be required to undertake some independent study, work ahead of the training, and attend all training sessions.

Learning outcomes: To enhance each participant’s understands of the role of an efficient counsel in international arbitration; practice modern drafting, advocacy skills and examination; and gain insight into and understanding of the functioning of the arbitral tribunal.

Who should attend: Practicing lawyers and state counsel who wish to enhance their skills as counsel or party representative in international arbitration.

Date and Venue: The Training will take place at the CRCICA Premises in Cairo on 10-12 October 2022
