Hi guys, good morning. I’m here with this madcap Maria. Our search for budget thalis continues. We’re going to Pedda-Kharebandh which is in south of Margao. Hopefully we’ll find nice affordable thalis. See you there

Shiven’s Kitchen (Tel: 8552988882; Mondays closed) is in Pedda-Kharebandh in Margao. We are coming from Benaulim side and crossing Kharebandh bridge. After the bridge, you have to take the second left turn going toward the railway crossing. Not even 100 m after the left turn is Shiven’s Kitchen, on the left. Note that parking in Kharebandh for cars is next to impossible, so come on bike

Shiven’s is a simple place with 2 tables downstairs and more upstairs. Nice jolly wall decor. We are going to sit up in the AC section, where there are 5 tables

In fish thali there was bangda (mackerel), prawns, chonak, modso and kingfish available on the day. So we ordered 1 prawns thali (special, Rs 300) and 1 veg thali (Rs 150). And we took a separate plate of squid masala fry (Rs 300)

We didn’t have to wait too long for our thalis

My prawns thali (special, Rs 300) had prawns, pickle, salad, sol kari, cabbage bhaji, prawn curry, tarle (sardines) curry, kismur, teesrio, gulab jamun and rice. 11 items. Imagine giving two curries in one thali. Wow. They put teflam in the tarle curry

Maria’s veg thali (Rs 150) had chapati, pickle, salad, sol kari, alsande (black eyed peas/lobia) curry, ambade (hog plum) sasav (mustard curry), cabbage bhaji, pumpkin bhaji, dal, gulab jamun, papor and rice. 12 items

The curry was superb.

Squid was juicy and tasty

The food on the whole was very tasty. They put teflam in the tarle curry

Usually we give a lot of commentary on the food but on this day we just got lost in the delicious lunch

Shiven’s Kitchen (Tel: 8552988882; Mondays closed) is really a great place in our neighbourhood. The menu is just thalis and separate plates of fried fish, whatever is fresh available on the day

Our bill at Rs 785 was very reasonable. Prawns thali (Rs 300) was generous with 2 curries. Imagine only Rs 150 for that huge veg thali with three bhajis and sasav and all. Such a big veg thali we never saw

This Shiven’s Kitchen is a really nice place in Pedda-Kharebandh. If you’re in Margao side or going to the railway station, really nice place, guys, you must come
