At RSPB Scotland's Mersehead reserve near Dumfries cattle are helping create habitat for species like Lapwing, Barnacle Geese and Natterjack Toads. The RSPB relies on local graziers bringing their animals onto the reserve. The farmers get fantastic grazing and the wildlife gets four legged mowers. And it also means gorgeous native Belted Galloway Cattle in the fields.
In this video grazier Gilbert Johnston and RSPB warden Rowena Chambers explain more. RSPB Scotland would like to thank all the local farmers who work with us to deliver even better conditions for nature on the reserve.
