HELLO, PICCOLOS!
The Ohio State University Marching Band was joined Saturday by a special group of more than 70 piccolo players to perform “Stars and Stripes Forever” during halftime. The piccolo players, under the direction of professor Katherine Borst Jones, are holding a reunion this weekend and will be playing a solo during “Stars and Stripes Forever.” Of the 70 plus performers, 20 will be current Ohio State students while more than 50 will be alumni of the university.
Current marching band member Nicole Conte, who is a flutist majoring in instrumental musical performance, will be joined on the field by her mother, Marni. Nicole plays mellophone in the marching band, and Marni is a former TBDBITL member and School of Music student who had Jones as a professor. Nicole’s father, Michael, was also in the marching band at Ohio State.
