In the USA, dogs are used as a way to signify social status (depending on breed) but more importantly, as a way to gatekeep American-ness / Whiteness. I remember growing up watching TV shows and being fed the notion that having a dog was the pinnacle of what it meant to be an "American".
It is NOT okay to value dogs equal to, LET ALONE HIGHER, than humans.. this is coming from an ex-vegeterian & ex-vegan. Maybe more about that in a future video.
