Описание: North Carolina train hosts are volunteers who assist passengers on the Piedmont and Carolinian trains and at major stations, serving as goodwill ambassadors for the state and Amtrak.
North Carolina’s Train Host program involves more than 100 volunteers who serve on the state-owned Piedmont (Trains 71–78) and state-supported Carolinian (Trains 79 and 80) routes, as well as at major stations such as Raleigh, Charlotte, and Greensboro. Volunteers act as goodwill ambassadors, assisting passengers with travel questions, promoting rail safety, and providing information about local attractions and ground transportation.
The program has been active since 1990, with volunteers providing invaluable support both onboard and at stations. Station Hosts were introduced to allow volunteers who could not work on trains to remain active in the association. The program enhances passenger experience and promotes North Carolina’s rail services, contributing to the state’s transportation initiatives.
Interested individuals can apply through the North Carolina Train Host Association, a volunteer affiliate of the NCDOT Rail Division. The process includes:
