In this video, we are framing up the open-ended gable on our porch build. I’m putting the SKIL SAWSQUATCH 16 5/16" Saw to the ultimate test to see if it can handle 6x6 post cuts in a single pass without flipping the lumber.
We go through the entire process of layout using a laser, checking scissor truss pitches, and scribing 2x6 templates to ensure a perfect fit before we make the final cuts on the heavy timber.
What you’ll learn in this video:
How to find center and layout a gable using a laser.
Precision 6x6 cutting with the Skil Sawsquatch.
Pro Tip: Using 2x6 templates for complex angles.
Installing 45-degree braces and securing with Spax lag bolts.
Real-world construction: Managing dead batteries and the occasional smashed finger!
Tools Used:
SKIL SAWSQUATCH 16 5/16" Worm Drive Circular Saw
Spax 10-inch Screws
Self-Leveling Laser
