Chris Ruffley and Paul Lewis of Harper Adams University talk about slurry separation and techniques for better nutrient management on the University Farm in Shropshire.
More effective slurry management (including storage, separation and spreading) allows for more targeted and improved application of nutrients, as well as improving water and air quality.
Catchment Sensitive Farming Officer, Ceri Meehan, highlights the health and environmental impacts of ammonia emissions and nitrogen deposition. Catchment Sensitive Farming (CSF) can provide specialist visits on topics including Conserving Nitrogen and Nutrient Management.
Catchment Sensitive Farming (CSF) is led by Natural England in partnership with Defra and the Environment Agency. It works with farmers, communities and organisations in catchments across England to improve the quality of air, water and flood management through the Agricultural Transition.
