Moon Egg Soba a.k.a. TSUKIMI SOBA
■Taste Reviews & Notes 📝
"Tsukimi" literally means "Moon Viewing" in Japanese (Tsuki = Moon, Mi = See). 🌕👀
This is a classic noodle dish where the bright yellow egg yolk represents the full moon floating in the night sky (the dark soup), and the egg whites represent the clouds. ☁️
It’s one of the simplest yet most popular ways to eat Soba in Japan! When you break the soft-boiled egg, the yolk coats the noodles and makes the savory dashi broth taste rich and creamy. It’s comforting and "OISHII"!
■Ingredients (for 1 serving) 🥣
・Dried Soba Noodles: 1 bundle (approx. 3.5 oz / 100g)
・Egg: 1 (Soft-boiled or Poached)
・Green Onions (Scallions): As much as you like!
・Mentsuyu (Noodle Soup Base): 1/4 cup (60ml) *I used Ninben Tsuyu!
・Hot Water: 1 cup (250ml) *Adjust ratio based on your sauce bottle
