Today we learn how Gudrun ends up marrying King Atle and how the curse of Andvari plays a role in what is to come to pass in part one of “Gudrun’s Vengeance.”

After Sigurd and her son are burned on the pyre, Gudrun refuses to be comforted and decides to leave and walk through the wolves and truly desires that the wolves would just devour her. After five days of a sorrowful journey, she arrived at the Hall of King Alv. There she was received with pity and tenderness and had Thora, daughter of Hakon as her companion. She lived there for three summers and four winters before her mother, Queen Grimhild, found her. Once she was found, there was nothing that could thwart her desire to bring her daughter home and marry her off to King Atle, the brother of Brynhild. The Queen and her sons, along with a large army, made their way to the Hall of King Alv to persuade Gudrun to marry King Alv. After many days of talks, crying, and being given the potion of forgetfulness, Gudrun agrees to marry the king but forewarns it will not end well for her family, her mother ignores what she says and makes preparations to travel to King Atle for a wedding. How will this all end for Gudrun? Listen in to hear the whole story.
