From long ago, Koreans have enjoyed a life full of art.
When enjoying good music against a backdrop of beautiful scenery, the most popular instrument of choice was the geomungo.
Along with the geomungo, the gayageum was another favorite.
Long ago, there was one musician who was designated as Korea's first intangible cultural asset for his unsurpassed talent in playing the gayageum and geomungo.
His name is Kim Yun-deok, known as the greatest master of Korean string instruments!
He was not satisfied with just being a great musician.
He tried to fulfill his responsibilities as an educator and researcher as well.
On this week's "The Sensation," we take a look at a life story of Kim Yun-deok whose passion has now become the firm roots that support the traditional music of Korea!

"김윤덕,현대악기의 대가"
예로부터 우리 조상들은 풍류가 있는 삶을 즐겼다.
좋은 경치를 벗 삼아 음악을 즐기던 풍류문화에 대표적으로 등장하던 악기는 거문고.
거문고와 함께 풍류문화에 빠지지 않는 또 하나는 가야금이다.

가야금과 거문고 등 다양한 악기를 두루 섭렵하며, 우리나라 최초의 인간 문화재로 지정받은 사람이 있다.
바로, 현악기의 대가 "김윤덕"이다.

그는 단순히 연주가에만 머무르지 않고, 교육자로서 연구자로서의 역할에 충실했다.

없는 듯 하면서도 큰 울림을 내고...큰 울림을 내면서도 조용한 힘을 갖고 있는 가야금과 거문고.
