The operating room includes all heat sources and HVAC installation. Objective of the study is to identify the airflow and local air quality. This short movie presents the air velocities and its dynamic behaviour inside the operating room during a surgery. It is of importance to know the velocities since the patient’s body should not be exposed to high velocities and it needs to be kept on temperature.
The Operating Room is one of the most important rooms in the hospital to deliver quality care to its patients. To optimize the process it is of utmost importance that the HVAC system is adapted to the needs and requirements of the specific Operating Room, surgery and specialist. High quality CFD simulations provide the possibility to create the perfect environment.
Simulation performed using ANSYS CFX on a 128 core HPC cluster.
