Let's take a listen to 3 top 1176 style plugins and the real thing and see how they all stack up. We got the Purple MC77, the UAD 1176, the Pulsar 1178, and a vintage 1176 in my rack. You're gonna want some headphones or speakers to really hear the subtle differences here!
Here's the comparison used on the room mic of a drum recording with a u47 placed about 5 feet back from the drum kit. Do you have a favorite in each example? Can you tell the differences? Let's talk about it in the comments.
