PCB supports Bangladesh refusal to play in India

Описание: A major controversy has emerged ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup, as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has reportedly extended support to Bangladesh’s refusal to play its scheduled matches in India, citing security concerns. The development comes just days before a crucial ICC Board meeting, where a final call is expected on Bangladesh’s participation in the tournament beginning February 7.

As per the schedule, Bangladesh are slated to play four group-stage matches in India, including three in Kolkata and one in Mumbai. However, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), reportedly backed by its government, has made it clear that the team is unwilling to travel to India and has requested that its matches be shifted to Sri Lanka, a co-host nation.

Sources indicate that the PCB wrote to the ICC backing Bangladesh’s stand and referenced political instability in the region. The letter was reportedly circulated among all ICC Board members. Despite multiple rounds of talks, including a recent meeting in Dhaka, neither the ICC nor the BCB has softened its position.

While the PCB has not issued an official statement, reports suggest that Bangladesh sought Pakistan’s support. Pakistan itself continues to play under a hybrid model, hosting matches in Sri Lanka. The ICC’s decision is now keenly awaited.
