The fire is affecting visibility on the M49 and M5 around junction 18.
This morning Avon Fire and Rescue Service stated the smoke had reached as far as Thornbury, but there are now reports of a burning smell in the Stroud district.
Stroud District Council has Tweeted: "We're getting reports of the smell of burning plastic in our district.
