Standard on every Kodiak 100 aircraft is the pitch latch propeller which allows the propeller to be shut down in "beta". The pitch-latch prop will eliminate thrust in certain conditions. For seaplane operations on the water, where there are no brakes, the pitch latch propeller can eliminate thrust on docking and on start up, reducing unwanted movement. For operations on unimproved or backcountry strips, engaging the pitch latch propeller reduces the risk of sucking up debris on engine start up or shut down.
