Theory of the Item:
--------------------
In Bharatanatyam, the term "Natya Karma Shloka" often refers to traditional Sanskrit verses that describe the duties (karma) of a dancer (nartaka) or the purpose and principles of dance (natya). These verses are derived mainly from the Natya Shastra, the ancient treatise on performing arts by Bharata Muni.
यतो हस्तः ततो दृष्टिः ।
यतो दृष्टिस्ततो मनः !
यतो मनस्ततो भावः ।
यतो भावस्ततो रसः ॥
Translation:
-------------
Yato hastas tato drishtih
Yato drishtis tato manah
Yato manas tato bhavah
Yato bhavas tato rasah
Meaning:
----------
Where the hands go, the eyes follow
Where the eyes go, the mind follows
Where the mind goes, emotion (bhava) arises
Where emotion is, there the aesthetic experience (rasa) is evoked
