Hey guys, thanks for tuning into my channel. I appreciate it's great to see you again. I'm a professional photographer. I do celebrities, I do fashion. So, let's get started! You want to look at in a picture? Let me give you some tips that I even have to remember all the time, I tell myself these 10 things and they're important! And they're important for professional photographers. They're important for people who just want to go out and take pictures with our iPhone.
Number 1: mind your horizons. When you're taking a picture, unless you want it to be crooked, make sure that the sidewalk is level, make sure that the horizon is level. The horizon, by the way, is always level. The Earth's never crooked.
Number 2: nail your focus! I don't even need to show you an example of this. An out-of-focus shot is an out-of-focus shot, you're screwed, you're done. Make sure you get your focus.
Number 3: do not cut off your subjects limbs. One thing that I always do is cut people's feet off and it's not our purpose and it's annoying and some of the best shots I've ever taken, their feet are cut off and it's just is exhausting. You can't really retouch that. It's just a mess.
Number 4: good composition! I have talked about this, the rule of thirds, the rule of thirds, the rule of thirds! Keep things interesting. If you have someone looking this way, put them in this third so they're looking towards the empty space and makes them feel, it just makes good composition of the photo. There's a million things out there that talk about good composition and the rule of thirds and the Fibonacci sequence.
Number 5: Don't over edit! God gave you pores for a reason. They're okay. You know what over editing is? It just blurs everything. It blurs everything out except for your eyes and your nostrils and your lips. It just blurs it out. A little blurring is okay but don't over, don't over edit your photos. It's not you anymore. That's just my opinion.
Number 6: This is an interesting one that people say, always say, don't shoot in tungsten light. I say don't shoot in tungsten light unless you have an orange gel. If you have an orange gel, put an orange gel over someone's face shooting tungsten light and it will be amazing. Their skin will look perfect and everything else will be cold and chilly and blue. So unless you have a orange gel, don't shoot in tungsten light.
Okay, Number 7 is used light correctly. We don't have time to even talk about using light correctly. It's a YouTube channel all of itself. But it's important to understand what light does, what it's going to do. Always remember, the bigger the light the closer the light the softer the light. Let me make it easy for you. If you're taking a picture of yourself, stand by a window. The outside light is going to be diffused. You're gonna be using good light. Make sure your face is turned towards the big beautiful light. Have a reason for taking a picture, say something with your images, be a little creative and have fun with it.
One thing that Joe McNally said in one of his videos, he is like my man crush he's the guy that inspired me to become a photographer in the first place. When you're shooting understand that you will never be here again. That this moment in time will never happen again. Once we walk away from here, it's gone forever so take it serious. Take a minute, take an extra 10 minutes and make it right
