Rain, Snowfall Hit Himachal Pradesh As Tourists Stranded Near Atal Tunnel In Rohtang | News9

Описание: A sudden change in weather brought thunderstorms and rain to Shimla and nearby areas of Himachal Pradesh. According to the India Meteorological Department, Shimla recorded 6 mm of rainfall.

Higher regions of Kullu District and Lahaul and Spiti District received fresh snowfall, attracting hundreds of tourists. However, the sudden snowfall left many visitors stranded overnight near the Atal Tunnel in Rohtang Pass.

Nearly a thousand tourist vehicles were stuck as slippery roads disrupted movement. Police teams from Manali reached the spot and launched rescue operations.

The IMD has predicted light rain and snowfall in the state till March 21, while a yellow alert for thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds has been issued for several districts. A fresh western disturbance is also expected to affect northwest India from the night of March 17.
