The first two episodes of Beyond the Tides (later renamed to Against the Tides following a restart to the overall adventure) are based on the Tide of Retribution adventure found in the Explorer’s Guide to Wildemount written by Mattew Mercer. The remainder of Beyond the Tides and furthermore into Against the Tides is a homebrew storyline.

A group of adventurers gather at Palma Flora for a local tradition; a Shark Hunting Tournament to honor the Storm Lord. The tournament is halted as an earthquake rattles the island resort and a sudden attack of Sahuagin raiders invades the sinking island.
