Kittywake Anchorage: Garden Bay, Pender Harbour, BC (August 2021)

Описание: Kittywake, an Independent Shipwrights IS25 pocket trawler, at anchor in Garden Bay, Pender Harbour on the south coast of British Columbia (August 18, 2021).

Garden Bay is part of the multi-faceted Pender Harbour complex located on the middle portion of British Columbia's Sunshine Coast. This anchorage is a few hundred metres from the Madera Park government wharf from which a short walk leads to a grocery store, pharmacy and cafes. Garden Bay is also the access point to Garden Bay Provincial Park which includes the 450-metre high (about 1,500 ft.) Mount Daniel, the top of which offers a fine "aerial" view of Pender Harbour.

In summer, this is not a place for solitude-seeking boaters but is convenient to a number of services for those requiring supplies or shoreside diversions. It is also a safe place to wait out weather and wind when the Strait of Georgia (Malaspina Strait) kicks up.

Note: Sadly, I later found out that the Garden Bay Pub burned down in November 2020.
