Turn up your volume to hear the Akrapovic awesomeness!
Just a quick test... I modded my ContourHD last by removing the internal microphone and replacing it with a 3.5mm headphone jack pigtail that hangs out of the bottom/back of the camera. Now I can run an external microphone wherever I want. Best place I've found to run the external mic is in my backpack. It seems that there is almost no wind turbulence in the "pocket" of air behind my back when at speed, providing excellent shelter for a microphone.
The modification process I used is essentially the same as what Youtuber "sgtmarkins" has a tutorial video for. The only difference is instead of hard-wiring an external microphone that hangs out of the camera, I went the route of a 3.5mm quick-disconnect headphone jack. I've removed the internal microphone (was almost useless anyway) so now I'll always need to wear a backpack or camelbak when I want to record... Which is fine by me! I always do anyway.
The microphone being used is a cheapie "full-sized" or "ice cream cone" RadioShack mic. I found that the bigger the microphone diaphragm diameter, the more bass it seems to take. This mic still can't take the volume of my exhaust as you can hear it distorting when I get on it. I'm open to suggestions for a different kind of (unbalanced) microphone that can handle alot of bass and SPL. Perhaps a microphone used for picking up drums?
Video recorded in 720p/60fps Quicktime (High Bitrate). Post-edited and encoded by Adobe Premiere Elements 8 in to 30-fps WMV which was then uploaded to YT.
Microphone i'm using:

I'm thinking this is the route I SHOULD go:

That is bound not to distort. The current microphone tests at 550ohms, so I think it should work??
Повторяем попытку...
