Marchers in Chile demand LGBT rights

Описание: Thousands of people in Santiago, Chile, took to the streets to demand LGBT rights and show support for marriage equality. "This demonstration is to demand that politicians put up high the things we are proposing from civil society," said Rolando Jimenez, President of The Homosexual Movement of Integration and Liberation.

"To ask and demand the government make urgent the Life Partner Agreement. To tell the presidential and parliamentary candidates that we want marriage equality."

Among Latin American countries only Argentina grants same-sex couples full marriage rights, however, the marchers in Chile remained hopeful that a law to allow gay marriage would soon be passed. Report by Laurie Blake.
