American Scouting History 101

Описание: Today's Scouts BSA (Boy Scouts of America) has had a long and interesting history. Being an organization more than 112 years old, it has truly been formed by the people of its time. The rich and fascinating history of Scouting in America is originally based on the British Scouting program. Baden-Powell, William D. Boyce, Thomas Seton, and Daniel Beard created the original concept of Scouting in the United States. This is a short overview, a “History 101” type course. It is recommended to get more information about individual subjects from the attached playlist. The viewer should be warned however that not all history is perceived openly. This video may contain controversial issues that could trigger negative feelings and opinions. Everyone viewing this video should remind themselves of the Scout Oath/Promise and Law. It is not intended to be presented as a type of existential crisis, it's just the history of the past.

Scouts – William Dickson Boyce (1909) Lost in the fog Story.
BSA – Founded in 1910 and first perpetual charted by Congress in 1913.
Sea Scouts – (Ships) were established in 1912-1949. In 1949 Sea Scouts became Sea Explorers. In 1998 Sea Explorers switched back to Sea Scouts under the Venturing division. 2016 Sea Scouts became a full-fledged program on its own again.
Air Scouts – (Squadrons) were established in 1941-1948, Air Explorers 1949-1965. Disbanded in 1985. Aviation Career Explorers exist today in Learning for Life
OA – Order of the Arrow, created by Edward Urner Goodman, and Carroll Andrew Edson (1915)
Integrated as an official part of the Scouting program (1948)
Cub Scouts – The BSA introduced Cub Scouting in 1930
Explorers – 1935 The BSA recognized older boy patrols within troops.
1949 The BSA recognized Explorer Post as a Scouting division.
1959 Exploring Program was set up as a separate program of Scouting.
1969 The Exploring program expanded into trades, business, and professional careers.
Desegregation – in 1964 BSA officially integrated all units, even though it had started back in 1954.
Learning for Life – was introduced to support the career path in 1991.
2013 Learning for Life became its own stand-alone affiliate of the BSA.
Adult Leaders – In 1988 BSA abolished gender requirements on all volunteer positions.
Venturing – In 1998 the Venturing youth (14-21) program was established with co-ed crews.
Scouting for All – In 2013 BSA stop barring LGBTQ youth and in 2014 adult leaders.
Girls Dens in Cub Scout – In 2017 Girl Dens in Cub Scouting was introduced.
Scout BSA – In 2019 all Girl Troops were established.
