10 children rescued, placed under protection after woman found dead in "very bad" multi-family home

Описание: Ten children were placed in protective custody after King County sheriff’s deputies responded to a reported death at a Maple Valley home and found what officials described as deplorable living conditions.

The home is along Southeast 200th Street in Maple Valley. Deputies were called there on Thursday night, where a 47-year-old woman was found dead.

No cause of death has been determined.

Inside the home, deputies found numerous children living in what was described as “very bad and pretty severe” conditions, prompting a criminal investigation.

Deputies and Child Protective Services worked for hours at the home after arriving with a warrant on Thursday afternoon.

Officials said four families were living in the home, including the mothers of the 10 children. All 10 children were taken into protective custody by CPS and sent to a hospital as a precaution after complaints that they felt sick or unwell. Officials said the children were also being evaluated for signs of neglect.

Charges are expected to be filed, but no timeline has been announced.
