Instead of doing just a driving video on any specific locations only, I am filming the driving video of variety of streets while driving rideshare in the island of Oahu, Hawaii.

Many visitors have asked for me to drive them around the island for cash payment, which I have to decline. My declining reason is explained below:

Rideshare Clause Requirement in the State Of Hawaii

All automobiles in the State Of Hawaii require a minimum of a liability automobile insurance coverage.

Both Uber & Lyft Rideshare companies require all drivers to have a minimum of a liability automobile insurance coverage.

All automobile insurance companies do not cover any drivers driving for a rideshare without a rideshare clause added on. If the insurance company finds out that a driver is driving for a rideshare, Uber or Lyft, then their automobile insurance is voided on the spot. If they find out that a driver is driving for any fee, then their automobile insurance is voided on the spot.

In the State Of Hawaii only Dtric & Allstate insurance companies offer rideshare clause to be added on to their automobile insurance coverage at an additional cost at this time, which starts at $1,000 per every 6 months for drivers with no record of any driving infraction.

Rideshare companies, Uber & Lyft, provides automobile insurance coverage to drivers for enroute to the passenger and also while the passenger is in the vehicle.
All other driving coverage is covered by the insurance company that provided the rideshare clause as an added on coverage to their personal automobile insurance coverage.

If a driver provides a ride to a paying passenger and then gets into an accident, then the driver’s automobile insurance becomes voided once the insurance company discovers the driver have been paid for the driving service, which would create a nightmare for the driver & the passenger if anyone is injured as there would be no insurance coverage.
Moreover, because the insurance becomes voided on the spot upon discovery of paid driving service, the driver would have no help from their insurance company even if the other driver is at fault.

Many rideshare drivers are not aware of the rideshare clause add on policy in the State Of Hawaii. As such, many drivers are offering cash paying driving service out of ignorance.

Also, there are drivers who have been kicked off the rideshare system due to their mistake or not and still need to earn an income. Hence, they are out there offering their rideshare service for cash and taking a big risk even when they are aware of the rideshare clause add on requirement in the State Of Hawaii.
