Those who are in Christ have not only been set free from the guilt of sin, but also from the tyranny of sin. That is, sin is no longer rules over you; you are free from the bondage of sin. Now that you have been made alive in Christ, you must live that way.

In Romans 6:11-14 the Apostle Paul gives three commands that you must live out now that you have been brought to life through faith in Christ Jesus.
1) You must regard yourself as dead to sin and alive to God.
2) You must refuse to let sin rule over you.
3) You must resolve to surrender your body and mind in obedience to God.
The great news is this: not only does God command you to do these things, but He has actually given you the ability to fulfill these commands.

Text: Romans 6:11-14
“(11) So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus. (12) Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, to make you obey its passions. (13) Do not present your members to sin as instruments for unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life, and your members to God as instruments for righteousness. (14) For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace.”
